Hinsley Retains Duffield Memorial

Upper Stoke angler Colin Hinsley retained the Glenn Duffield Cup, traditionally the opening match of the Summer League series, with another sparkling performance on a tough day.

This year’s summer league has been extended over seven months as opposed to the customary six, leaving anglers to brave a cold March morning on the opening day.

Overnight frost and a biting northerly made conditions difficult with the carp hard to come by.  Once again bagging a decent carp was the key to success, a feat which both Hinsley and Suffolk vet Eric Peak managed to achieve to catapult them to the top of the leader board.

Surprisingly perennial champion Mick Morley has never won the Duffield Memorial.  Once again he fell just short, finishing third despite catching some quality tench and perch.

Perhaps the busiest competitor was Trevor Radley who notched a net full of ‘tiddlers’ finishing with 4lb 14ozs, good enough for fourth place.
