Water Vole Spotted at Lakes

A water vole has been spotted at the lakes.  Several sightings have been made in recent days, particularly in the early evening.

The water vole Arvicola terrestris is a threatened species. It has suffered the largest decline of any British mammal in recent years. Some estimates now place the population decline of water voles at 90%.

Although water voles have declined in Norfolk, strong populations remain in the Broads, along the North Norfolk coast – and now at Poringland Lakes.
