Copse Thinning

Volunteers have been busy in recent weeks thinning out the copse which has become overgrown with spindly silver birch.

It is hoped this woodland management will encourage ground-cover vegetation and attract more birds.  Already new flora is growing on the woodland floor.

The copse is home to the ‘Bug Hotel’, a purpose-made area consisting of stacked pipes and logs covered in decaying vegetation which is home to a myriad of bugs and beetles.
