It is with deep regret that we have to inform you that
Rod Witham
our secretary, dedicated fisherman and conservationist very sadly passed away in hospital in Manchester on 8th July, after a major operation following the discovery of cancer.
His wife Karen would like to thank everyone that has sent cards and letters with kind thoughts. She has been inundated!!
Our thoughts are with Karen, his family and friends.
I just wanted to write a few lines to thank those of you who were kind enough to send me cards, letters and messages after Rod passed away in July. Not only was I grateful to know I was in your thoughts at such a difficult time, but I was really comforted to read all the lovely things many of you said about him. It made me proud to realise he was so highly regarded and was obviously going to be missed by many of you at the lakes and on the Committee.
I also want to thank Poringland Conservation and Fishing Lakes for the donation in Rod’s name to Cancer Research UK. I received the final figure today and we raised an amazing £1,320. I am so grateful for your generosity and Rod would be happy to know that such a large amount will, hopefully, help to prevent someone else losing their life to such a terrible disease.
My very best wishes to you all and thank you again for your support.
Karen
